Scott founded Proxenia to make important connections less dependent on chance.
He leads the Foundation’s programs, partnerships, and daily operations.
Why I built Proxenia
A useful relationship should not depend on luck.
I have always been the person making introductions.
I enjoy connecting people. Anyone who knows me probably knows that already.
Over time, I began to question how much useful work depended on someone remembering the right name at the right moment.
I would meet an operator who understood a problem from years of dealing with it. Somewhere else, a founder was working on a possible answer. Most of the time, they met only if someone happened to make the introduction.
The Accelerator programs gave those encounters more structure. Founders could work directly with people who understood hospitality and could challenge their assumptions before the market did.
Three cohorts later, sixteen startups and founders have taken part. Nineteen experts have contributed across more than fifty working and learning sessions.
That work became the basis for the Foundation.

Their involvement gave founders a view of the industry they could not get from a generic startup program.

That experience now informs the Foundation’s wider work.

I currently lead the Foundation’s day-to-day work. The Board of Directors governs the organization and protects its charitable purpose. As Proxenia grows, other people will take responsibility for programs and relationships now managed by its founder.
That is why I am documenting the work now and building systems other leaders can use.
